Are Empty Spray Cans Recyclable?
Partager
They can be recycled, but with one condition: you must ensure the can is completely empty and free of residual hazardous substances.
Most empty aerosol cans (such as those for sunscreen or hydrating mists) are made of tinplate or aluminum and qualify as recyclable waste. However, proper handling is required, particularly regarding any remaining contents and propellants.
🧴 How to dispose of them correctly
Empty first: In a well-ventilated area, point the nozzle at waste paper or a trash bag and press continuously until no more gas or liquid comes out.
Dispose: Once confirmed empty, place the can in the recycling bin or designated collection point.
Handle special cans separately: Cans containing insecticides, paints, or hair dyes usually count as hazardous waste due to chemical residues and must be disposed of separately.
⚠️ Do not attempt to dismantle or crush aerosol cans yourself; residual flammable propellants (such as propane or butane) pose a risk of sudden combustion or explosion when exposed to high temperatures or open flames.
Recyclables include items such as waste metal and plastic; empty aerosol cans (made of metal or plastic) fall into this category. Cans containing chemicals, however, should be treated as hazardous waste.
Of course if you need aerosol spray cans, share your preferred body size, product application, component requirements and estimated order quantity with our Huate to discuss which available structure should be evaluated for your project.
